French Renovations

Follow us as we tackle the renovation of our French home and business. We are not accomplished DIY’ers, neither are we living in a fancy or expensive ‘maison de maître’ in the countryside of Provence!

This is a down to basics, when we have the money, renovation of a couple of terraced village houses in the Pyrenees. Follow us as we tackle the houses, room by room, ready to rent out or to live in. We will probably have some disasters (at the moment we are operating on a solitary freezing outside loo!) but I am sure this blog will show you that if we (a couple of online teachers) can manage to take a massive project like this on, so can you!

Learn step-by-step how to buy a house in France and discover how to start a business using your home. We will look at renting out your home for tourists or long-term rentals, investigating the intricacies of the French administrative system and up-to-date legislation. We will be drawing on our experience of over 20 years in the rental business.

Don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like to have any inside information or a chat. We look forward to hearing from you.

As the year nears its end, I find myself wondering about the sanity of starting a blog. Hanging out your washing to dry for all to see was not the intention but more an evaluation of whether we could live more sustainably in a society that buffets us consistently with consumerism dilemmas.
